PGT (Gender selection)
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis
PGD is a method used to check whether there is a genetic defect in embryos created through IVF Treatment.
Who Is PGD Test Performed?
How is PGD Test Done?
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a technique that provides an alternative to prenatal diagnosis and termination of pregnancy for couples whose children are at risk of having a serious genetic disease.
Couples considering PGD should definitely receive genetic counseling in order to have an idea about the genetic disease and to detect the genetic problem causing the genetic disease.
The embryos obtained for PGD application are biopsied and a cell sample is taken and analyzed in the laboratory environment. After 10-12 hours, the result of the examination can be accessed. In line with the results, only unaffected (intact) embryos are transferred for transfer to the womb of the expectant mother.
By minimizing the possibility of transmitting a genetic disease to the baby with PGD; The risk of termination of pregnancy in the expectant mother is also reduced.
These transactions (gender selection) are not carried out in Turkey due to legal procedures. For these treatment options, services are provided in centers outside of Turkey.
